They’re all full resolution, 45mb files. These images are geared more towards traditional stock and commercial usage. Many, but not all, of the images added prior have a fine art approach.

These images focus more on the holiday resort aspect of Kona, volcanic rock, and a pretty rare look at an abandoned energy turbine farm in the southern most tip of the USA. Keep an eye out for the cow. Enjoy.

More images to come. Click here to view all the images to date.

ABOVE: Part of my Hawaii trip included a drive and hike to Mahana Bay. It’s located at the southernmost tip of the United States, Ka Lae (South Point) on the Big Island (Kona) of Hawai’i. It is a beach full of green sand. In order to get to the beach one must walk three miles on a four-wheel drive road. It is north of Kaulana Bay. The beach was made by volcanic phenomena. Instead of the sand turning black it turned green. Big chunks are called olivine. It is also known as peridot, the birthstone for August. The colour of the ocean was incredible. It was even more incredible to swim in it.

It was also one of the last times I photographed using 35mm film. Back then I only shot for fun.

I’ve been reviewing hundreds of images to archive, and it was enjoyable finding the Hungary negatives and scanning them into digital images. And so, they’ve been given new life, and are now part of my permanent digital archive.

As much as I grumble about terrible driving conditions, blustery winds, sleet and ice during our Toronto (Canada) winters, I find the coldest season of the year very beautiful. Especially in The Beaches neighbourhood, where yours truly currently resides. For the urbanites out there, there is actually life east of Yonge Street and south of Eglington Avenue. Get with the program already (yes, this may be a gentle poke in the ribs to those who think the 15 minute drive from downtown is too long).

The Beaches is an amazing oasis. Great community of people, local retailers and small businesses. And an ever-expanding roster of restaurants and cafés, too.

The images in the above slideshow are my first foray into nature photography. They were captured during a snowstorm on the beach and boardwalk. Yes, it was cold. Yes, I had to protect my camera gear from the elements while shooting. And yes, my hands were pretty darn cold at times. BUT, you would never think these scenes are from Toronto’s waterfront. Winter in The Beaches is spectacular (or the BEACH, for those who choose to be politically correct).

I’m really excited to offer these images as part of the Image Archive. These Winter Series photographs are great for Holiday Season Greeting Cards, fine-art canvases, custom prints and editorial use, just to mention a few uses. Simply click on the image you’re interested in to see all the options available. If you can’t see the slideshow, click here to be taken directly to the Winter Series Gallery. I’m planning to make the Winter Series an ongoing project, so check in occasionally to see more.

Thanks for reading.

With quality stock images now available from a variety of online outlets, many photographers find it makes better sense to self-distribute their Stock Photography Images available for business and personal use. Large organizations such as Getty charge pretty high fees to image buyers, and take large commissions on image sales. Unless the photographer’s images are heavy sellers, they often don’t feel they receive enough dividends. Many photographers used to make their living solely from shooting stock. That’s happening on a MUCH smaller scale now. It’s only for a specialized few. This is happening more and more, much like in the music business where many successful musicians are self-distributing their music online and via their own private labels.

We’ve been slowly building a stock photography Image Archive over the last year and have done a soft-launch of our online e-commerce store to distribute stock imagery.

One of our newest Collections is the Urban Series. If you enjoy any of these images, you may purchase them in a variety of formats for a variety of uses.

Photographs from the Urban Collection, available for instant download via our Image Archive:
