The Brides’ Ballet: Tell Us Which You Prefer and Win a Fine-Art Print!

Which do you prefer? The colour or black & white treatment of The Brides’ Ballet? I personally can’t decide. I love them both. This image was created just a few weeks ago in the heart of downtown Toronto, Canada.

We’re having a contest. Tell me which version you like best and why, by posting a comment below.

One lucky winner will receive a complimentary print of your preferred version OR you can choose 1 of 50 images from our Hawaii Collection. See them here.

The image will be printed as a satin photographic paper print (approx 8×12″), and will include free delivery.

The winner will be announced July 4th and will be chosen via a random draw. Good luck!

Here are the two versions:

They’re both terrific Dean and now that I see them side by side, I’m torn! I always think of ‘art’ in photography being B&W, and find it makes the eye focus more on the subject than the background. At the same time when I then look at the colour version, all the blues on the ground created by the water are fantastic, and many features ‘pop’ with the colour.
    My vote: colour

  2. color for sure! it brings out the background and the unique features of the brides.

I love the colour version the best. It’s so vivid! I love the suspended red guitar.

Dean, I think I’m stuck as well! I love the vivid quality of the colour one, but I do find that my eyes wander to everything else like the buildings. If I was hanging this in my house, I’d love it because it would definitely add that extra pop of colour to a room. The black and white makes it look elegant and timeless. I find myself really looking at all the little details like the tiles on the ground and the buildings and the ripples going through the dresses as they move.
I’m going to be the rebellious one and say that I prefer the black and white!

Hi Dean. Black and white is our vote. It’s really elegant and focuses on the story of the dancing brides as opposed to all the eye-catching colours of the colour version (which is really beautiful, too). LOVE THEM! LOVE THEM!

They’re both great. The colour of the reflections in the wet pavement looks amazing. AND the black and white documentary feel is really great. I bet that the black and white version would look amazing as a really huge print, probably more so than the colour at the same size. So, I’d say for a smaller size I’d go with colour. For a really big size I’d go for b/w!

Thanks for sharing these. I’ve never seen an image like these before!
