Last weekend we experienced a critical data issue when one of our hard drives died without any warning. It was part of a disk array and contained almost a terrabyte of images! Can you imagine if we didn’t have a well thought-out backup strategy in place? Thousands of images would have been lost. Ironically it was a new, server-class drive, with over four years left on a five year warranty.
We’ve invested thousands of dollars in our backup strategy and Image Archive, so almost no data was lost – just a couple hours of that day’s work which had to be redone. What did take time was ascertaining the exact problem, correcting it and restoring the images.
